What object replacement is good for
Product teams and creators often have one strong clip and many products. Replacing the object in that clip is faster than reshooting every variant, and the motion stays identical between versions, which makes A/B tests fair.
- Product variants: one unboxing or pour shot, several flavours or colours.
- Packaging updates: swap last year's box or bottle for the new design.
- Props and set dressing: change a mug, a lamp, a book cover or a sign.
- Vehicles: replace the car or bike in a street shot.
- Mock-ups: show a product that does not exist yet in a real hand-held shot.
How the edit keeps the shot intact
The model tracks the object you named through the clip, including when a hand turns it or the camera moves, and redraws it to match your reference. The rest of the frame is rebuilt from the source footage, so fingers wrap around the new object, reflections follow the light and the movement stays in sync with the audio.
Objects that stay visible and reasonably large in the frame give the cleanest result. A product that is covered by a hand for half the clip, spins very fast or is only a few pixels wide is harder to keep consistent.
Step by step
Genjutsu AI accepts one MP4 or MOV file up to 100 MB, 3–15 seconds long (4–15 seconds for Seedance 2.5 and the Higgsfield workflows), at least 720 pixels on the short side and recorded at 24–60 frames per second.
- Upload the clip Use the take where the object is clearly visible. Trim it to the part you need; you pay per second of the clip.
- Add the new object Upload a clean product photo, ideally on a plain background and from an angle similar to the clip. Add a second angle if the object turns.
- Write the swap The 'Swap an object' preset reads: 'Replace the product held in @Video1 with the object from @Image1. Keep every face, the hands, the motion and the background unchanged.'
- Review the details Check logos, labels and edges where hands touch the object. Run a second pass if one detail needs work.
Engines on Genjutsu AI for object swaps
Seedance 2.5 Video Edit Turbo, the default engine, replaces objects from a sentence and reference images at 720p or 1080p. Higgsfield Object Swap, also available in the studio, is built for replacing an object, product, outfit or prop from references and offers 480p, 720p and 1080p. Kling O3 Video Edit costs the fewest credits per second and is a good way to test an idea before a higher-resolution run.
Each engine shows its credit price for your clip before you start. A confirmed failed edit returns the reserved credits to your balance.
Planning a product variant series
If you need several versions, film one master take with the product held still for a moment at the start and end, and keep it in the centre of the frame. Run one edit per variant with the same instruction and only the reference image changed. Because each version shares the same motion and timing, viewers compare the products rather than the camera work, and you can reuse the same captions, music and cuts.
Use the result responsibly
Only show products you are allowed to show, and do not use an edited clip to make claims a real product cannot meet. Genjutsu AI replaces objects, outfits, settings, pets and fictional characters; it does not replace a real person's face or identity.
