Change an outfit in a video with AI

You filmed a good take, but the jacket is wrong, the brand changed its colours or you want the same walk in five different looks. Genjutsu AI changes the clothes in footage you already shot and leaves the movement, camera path, timing and sound as they were. You upload the clip, add a photo of the garment, write one sentence and get back an MP4 of the same length.

Edit a video

In short

  • Upload one clip of 3–15 seconds and up to four reference images of the garment you want.
  • Name the item to change and say what must stay: faces, hair, hands, background and motion.
  • The person in the clip keeps their own face and body; only the clothing changes.
  • You see the credit price before you start, and a confirmed failed edit returns the credits.

What an AI outfit change does

An outfit change is a video-to-video edit. The model reads every frame of your source clip, finds the garment you named and redraws it to match your reference image or your description, while the rest of the frame follows the original footage. Because the motion comes from the clip you filmed, the fabric moves with the body you recorded: a turn, a step or a wave still happens at the same moment and from the same camera angle.

This is different from generating a new video from a prompt. Nothing about the performance is invented, so a product walkthrough, a dance or a short scene keeps its timing. That makes outfit changes useful when the take itself is right and only the wardrobe needs to vary.

Good reasons to change clothes in footage

Most requests fall into a few groups. The common thread is that reshooting would cost more than the change is worth.

  • Fashion and e-commerce: show one model walk in several colourways or seasonal pieces from a single shoot.
  • Brand updates: replace an old uniform or logo jacket in an existing clip after a rebrand.
  • Content variations: test which outfit performs better in a short ad without filming each version.
  • Continuity fixes: match a garment between two takes that were filmed on different days.
  • Creative edits: put a character in a costume, a suit of armour or a futuristic outfit for a short video.

How to change an outfit with Genjutsu AI

Genjutsu AI accepts one MP4 or MOV file up to 100 MB, 3–15 seconds long (4–15 seconds for Seedance 2.5 and the Higgsfield workflows), at least 720 pixels on the short side and recorded at 24–60 frames per second.

  1. Upload the clip Choose the take with clear, readable movement. The garment should be visible for most of the clip and not hidden behind other objects.
  2. Add the garment Upload a clean photo of the jacket, dress or uniform: front view, even light, plain background. You can add up to four images, for example front and back.
  3. Write the instruction Start from the 'Change the outfit' preset or write your own, for example: 'Change the jacket in @Video1 to the garment from @Image1. Keep every face, hair, body, motion and the background unchanged.'
  4. Check the price and run The studio shows the exact credit cost for your clip length and resolution before you start. When the edit finishes, download the MP4 with the original audio.

Tips for a clean result

Name one garment per edit. 'Change the jacket' works better than 'change everything she is wearing', and you can run a second pass for the trousers. Keep the reference close to how the item appears in the clip: a long coat will not fit cleanly onto a shot framed from the waist up.

Fast spins, heavy motion blur, hands crossing over the chest and very small figures in a wide shot are the hardest cases for any video model. Review the full clip before you publish it, and if a few frames look wrong, try a steadier take or a closer framing.

What Genjutsu AI will not do

Genjutsu AI changes clothes, not people. It does not replace a real person's face or identity and does not put someone's likeness into another performance, even with consent. Reference images should show the garment, ideally on a mannequin, a flat lay or a product shot, not another person's face. Only upload footage and images you have the right to use.

Frequently asked questions

Can I change an outfit in a video without reshooting?

Yes. Upload the clip you already filmed, add a photo of the garment you want and describe the change. Genjutsu AI redraws the clothing and keeps the motion, camera path and audio of your footage.

Does the person's face change?

It should not. The instruction asks the model to keep every face, hair and body unchanged, and Genjutsu AI does not accept requests to replace a real person's face or identity. Always review the result before you publish it.

Which engine should I use for outfit changes?

The studio opens on Seedance 2.5 Video Edit Turbo, which handles garment swaps from a sentence and reference images. Higgsfield Object Swap is another option for replacing an outfit or prop from references, and Kling O3 Video Edit is the lowest-priced route per second.

How long can the clip be?

Between 3 and 15 seconds (at least 4 seconds for Seedance 2.5 and Higgsfield), up to 100 MB, at least 720p and 24–60 fps. The output has the same length as your clip.
